Pushpagiri Eye Institution offers world-class training for ophthalmic residency program. The Institution is a recognized center by the National Board of Examinations since 2011. The students enrolled by NBE based on their merit undergo training in a structured format which includes Basic sciences and clinical subjects. They follow a rota which include postings at  Refraction, General Ophthalmology , Cornea ,Glaucoma,Retina,Oculoplasty, Squint and pediatric ophthalmology, Neuro ophthalmology, Students attend community ophthalmology services on regular basis.. The Students assist various surgical procedures and perform  surgeries under one to one supervision and at the end of training they are competent to manage  individually at the   Out Patient Care, minor surgical procedures, as well as independent residency-level surgical skills. Students are posted at our rural peripheral centres during their training .

Training includes a well designed academic program which cover basic sciences and cinical specialities  , Regular class room lectures include seminars, case discussions. Journal presentation, Video demonstrations/ side discussions etc. Students present the topics on regular basisthey  are assessed each month by internal assessment examinations which include theory examination and evaluation of  practical aspects. Students are individually assessed at each quarter year and the progress monitored and guided

The hospital has a well equipped library,  where, apart from hard copies of journals and textbooks, on-line Library Clinical Key is also available on the Library computer system. Internet service is available in the hospital campus and the students are actively encouraged to pursue research and conference presentations.Pushpagiri institution has trained more than 20 residents since 2011 and based on its increasing  capacity to train students the National board has  allotted 12 DNB seats( Primary , and 6 Post diploma)per year since 2019.
